Prop Making for the Film & TV Industry

For realistic closeup props, scenery, working electronic devices, replicas or costume accessories that look like the real thing, we make it all. Our in-house prop makers are able to replicate your design or even create new concepts using any reference images you might have, whether it be a simple sketch through to a detailed working drawing. If you have a prop design, idea or character concept you would like help bringing to life, get in touch below!

CAPABILITIES

Our team utilise 3D scanning, resin/silicone casting, 3D printing and world-class painting/finishing to achieve your vision. Our background in product design, prototyping, engineering and electronics also allow us to produce working models, featuring complex mechanisms and function.

ASTRONAUT HELMET

Prop helmet for use in the production of a short film. Appropriate material selection and fine finishing were used to create the sense of realism needed for close-up photography. The final touch of adding signs of wear to the paintwork suggests a real artefact that’s travelled across the galaxy and back…

WORLD OF WARCRAFT - SHALAMAYNE SWORD

Built for the launch of their The War Within expansion pack, the Shalamayne sword prop embodies the fantastical scale and intricate details synonymous with weapons in the World of Warcraft universe. Despite the fearsome size and look, the blade was cast in fibreglass to be durable but lightweight enough for guests at the launch event to wield and to enjoy safely.

PRIME VIDEO - ‘THE DEVIL’S HOUR’ PLAYSET

Challenged to design a realistic, working model of a children’s playset for Amazon Prime video, the model making team set about replicating the concept art provided by the production team.

Using a combination of digital sculpting, high resolution 3D printing and hand painting, our model-making team were able to create the props to look like real toys. Complete with bespoke electronics and power system, the built in working LEDs were able to illuminate reliably on cue.

The final playset props provided highly convincing, detailed close up models for the actors to hold and interact with.

STEAMPUNK RIFLE

Design and build a steampunk gun prop with working bolt action for a film production starring Rufus Hound.

Our task was to modify an existing air rifle using copper and brass machined parts, old plumbing pipes and a whole host of other accessories, fabricated and weathered to look like it had been made decades before.

The resulting outcome is a fantastic example of prop making by our in house team, posing as a realistic and plausible accessory that actors could hold and interact with.

DR WHO ACCESSORIES

Licensed by the BBC, we were given the task of designing and prototyping a range of Dr. Who prop toys, as part of an expanded ‘Dr Who’ universe.

Once the designs were realised in 3D CAD, each part was 3D printed and meticulously finished to produce replicas indistinguishable from the models in previous series. The resulting models were robust, and practical, featuring in-built electronics, button operated LEDs and authentic sound effects.
