STATUES
Statues and sculptures
Whether it’s realising licensed family-favourite characters or designing one of our own, we love getting to deliver statues with presence.
CAPABILITIES
Our team create digitally sculpted figures and likenesses to be realised in a range of sizes. With 3D printing, machining and fibre-glass fabrication we can turn them into life-sized statues that are sturdy and safe and finally paint and finish them to embody all the realism needed for maximum impact.
THE REAL MARY KING’S CLOSE – PLAGUE DOCTOR
Conceived to give visitors to the historic Edinburgh landmark the chance to get up close and personal with a plague doctor, the statue was constructed at 1:1 scale, with hand-made costume for accurate textures and finished in resin for durability. A burnished metallic paint finish gave the right heritage aesthetic without the cost, weight and lead time of real bronze.
ROGER MOORE SECRET DOOR KEYPAD
A one-off piece for a customer’s home comprising a bust of the famous secret agent revealing a digital keypad within.
Each illuminating key played a different quote or sound effect from the film franchise and when pressed in the correct sequence, unlocked a doorway in the room concealed behind a bookshelf.
FUTURE GENERATIONS - GORILLA STATUES
Looking for something striking for their new halls of residence builds, Future Generation came to Designworks to design a range of bespoke giant gorilla sculptures. Coined ‘Big Jim’ he was to stand or hang in foyers and common spaces to impress, amuse and likely intimidate the students.
MADAME TUSSAUDS - SPIDER-MAN STATUES
Life-sized statue of The Amazing Spider-Man for Madame Tussauds’ iconic London venue.
The comic-book accurate design was digitally sculpted before being machined in foam and multiple fibre-glass versions cast by one of our partners. Back in our workshop the web-slingers were hand-painted and delivered to the famous wax museum as well as several other venues around London.
