Castrol ON - EV Fluids Model 2.0
As a team of modelmakers, designers, and innovators, we’re always pushing boundaries. The EV Fluids 2.0 model is our lightest and most technically advanced exhibition display yet—built on years of refinement and driven by a refusal to repeat ourselves. This showcase is the successor to two other models made for Castrol in recent years; the E motor and EV Fluids 1.0 models.
A major step up from its 2020/2021 predecessors, this model features four real-life EV scenarios brought to life through immersive LED animations—all activated at the touch of a button. Every detail was refined, from aesthetics, weight and shipping size to brand storytelling; drawing on insights from past models and other projects. The process was initiated by reviewing previous pieces and interviewing all key stakeholders, in order to understand every area we could improve upon.

Telling a Great Story
The model brings a complex concept to life for both experts and lay persons, making the invisible visible, the intangible tangible. To tell the story clearly, we mapped out a detailed visual ‘script’ through an in-depth UX process; tested, refined, and eventually brought to life by our team of expert software developers and electronics engineers.
Visual Language
Working closely with the Castrol engineers and the marketing team, we created a visual style that keeps the focus on the technology at hand—without clutter or distractions. At the heart of the display is a dashboard-style layout of icons, designed to feel familiar, like something you'd see inside a real vehicle.
Each LED mode and animation was carefully scrutinised in an endeavor to maximise the effectiveness the story telling and carefully illustrate the intricate flow and behaviour of the cooling systems.
Over three months, each component was precisely crafted using 3D printing and CNC machining, then meticulously finished with automotive paints for a refined, high-quality look.
